The exact origin of the pretzel is a subject of debate among food historians, but one thing is certain: this treat has ancient roots.

Some sources suggest that the pretzel dates back to the Roman Empire from the 1st to the 6th century, during the Roman occupation of Alsace, they were known by Latin terms such as bracchium — arm. From the 8th century onward, the consumption of pretzels is documented, particularly in Alsatian Carolingian monasteries. 

The pretzel’s growing renown eventually made it a sign and emblem of bakers. For us, it is a symbol of love (with its heart‑like shape), generosity, and sharing.

Our founder, Celine—an avid French and avid baker—set out to reimagine this timeless treat for today’s food lovers. She spent months perfecting her recipes, combining traditional sourdough methods with organic, locally sourced ingredients. Her mission was simple: to bring back the flavours of her childhood and share them with her London based community.
